Coconut shell activated carbon is a high-performance adsorbent made from premium coconut shell raw materials. It features high adsorption capacity, low resistance, and excellent regeneration. It is widely used in water purification, air treatment, solvent recovery, and gold extraction. In gold mining, granular activated carbon is used to adsorb gold-cyanide complexes in CIP, CIL, and CIC systems. Choosing the right carbon is essential to maximize gold recovery and reduce losses. Our coconut shell carbon is specially developed to meet these needs with consistent performance and durability.
Product Details

Specialized formulations for gold adsorption, offering high K and R values
Our high-quality coconut shell activated carbon plays a critical role in the gold extraction process by ensuring maximum metal recovery and minimizing losses due to carbon degradation. We focus on reducing carbon attrition and fine formation, which helps maintain operational efficiency and recovery rates.
Gold Recovery in Mining
Activated carbon is a key material in the gold extraction industry. During the process, even just a few grams of gold require the mining, crushing, grinding, and leaching of thousands of tons of ore. Our coconut shell GAC is designed for use in:
CIP (Carbon-in-Pulp): Gold is first leached from the ore into slurry, then adsorbed by carbon added into multiple stirred tanks. Loaded carbon is later separated for recovery.
CIL (Carbon-in-Leach): Leaching and adsorption occur simultaneously in this process, developed to counteract natural carbonaceous materials that compete for gold adsorption.
CIC (Carbon-in-Column): Used mainly after heap leaching, where solutions—not slurry—are processed through carbon columns.
A major concern in all these systems is carbon wear and the formation of fine particles. These fines can continue to adsorb gold but are often lost during screening, leading to unrecoverable precious metals. Our products address this by offering:
High hardness and durability
Low attrition rate to minimize carbon loss
Maximum gold loading and adsorption efficiency
Backed by decades of experience, Jiayuan, Yulong, and Longkai have been trusted suppliers of high-performance activated carbon to gold mines worldwide, delivering reliable quality and outstanding technical support.
